Who we are
At our core, we believe caregiving is more than assistance — it’s connection, compassion, and honoring the life each person has lived. We know that behind every client is a rich history, full of memories, accomplishments, passions, and routines that shaped who they are. Our purpose is to bridge that past with the present, bringing comfort, joy, and familiarity into their everyday life.
We take time to truly know each individual — their favorite songs, family traditions, hobbies, the foods that made them smile, and the little rituals that once made their days feel full. By understanding who they were, we can better support who they are now. Whether that means recreating cherished activities, sparking conversations that bring memories to life, or simply showing up with a warm presence, we strive to help every client feel seen, valued, and connected.
Our caregivers aren’t just helpers; they’re companions, listeners, and trusted support systems. We focus on nurturing emotional well-being just as much as physical care, creating spaces where clients feel safe, respected, and uplifted.
Because to us, caregiving isn’t a service, it’s a relationship built on trust, empathy, and the belief that everyone deserves to continue living a meaningful and joy-filled life.
Meet our Founder, Opal Thaggard
Born in the beautiful islands of Fiji, I grew up in a vibrant community where the essence of family and togetherness was deeply ingrained in our way of life. In Fiji, extended families often live under one roof, fostering a sense of unity and shared responsibility. My childhood was spent surrounded by my parents, siblings, cousins, and relatives, all of whom played a pivotal role in shaping my values. From a young age, I learned the importance of caring for our elders and those around us. This foundation of compassion and honesty became the guiding principles of my life.
In the year 2000, I made the life-changing decision to migrate to the United States, leaving behind the familiar shores of my homeland. My journey took me through various roles, including 25 years of dedicated service in the U.S. government, where I worked at both the federal and state levels. While I appreciated my career, deep within, I harbored a strong desire to make a more direct impact in the lives of others. I wanted to create a better life for individuals and communities, building on the values instilled in me during my childhood.
This desire to help others is what led to the birth of Care Hive. The name itself is a reflection of both my heritage and the lessons I hold dear. Just as bees work tirelessly in their hives, contributing to the well-being of their community, Care Hive embodies the spirit of teamwork, cooperation, and nurturing. In a hive, every bee plays a critical role, supporting one another for the greater good. This parallels my own journey and vision for my business: to create a supportive environment where compassion and care thrive.
At Care Hive, I aim to foster a community that mirrors the values I grew up with in Fiji. By incorporating the qualities of bees—diligence, teamwork, and a commitment to nurturing—I strive to build a business that not only serves clients but also uplifts and empowers those around us. Together, we can create a hive of support and growth, leaving a positive impact on everyone we encounter.
